JOHN MARSHALL: My first trial was a dog bite case. It was a young man approximately twenty years old, he was bit by an Alaskan malamute, which is a dog that we know has a propensity to bite like a pit bull or German shepherd, some of these other breeds. As in most dog bite cases that particular case involved an injury to the face, and I got significant verdict in excess of $500,000. To my knowledge that's the largest dog bite verdict in a contested case in Monmouth County at least in the last twelve to fifteen years. I receive dog bite and animal bite referrals from attorneys throughout New Jersey so we do have an abundance of animal and dog bite cases, although it sounds a little unique, but we do and that's because of really how I started my career and the success that I had.
